Updated: Apr 21, 2023

FREQUENTIS strengthens cybersecurity expertise through acquisition of German VoIP communications security expert FRAFOS

Germany / Austria, April 5, 2023

- FRAFOS will supply key security components for Frequentis communication solutions in all safety-critical areas

- FRAFOS solutions are approved for security-critical installations in government organizations and certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)

"Software solutions in virtualized environments require increased security and network monitoring to protect against potential cyber attacks. With FRAFOS, we have found an expert in VoIP firewalls to support our solutions for security-critical areas by providing enhanced protection against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks as well as fraud attempts at the border of network infrastructures," said Norbert Haslacher, CEO Frequentis. "We are pleased to add FRAFOS to our growing group of companies that support our mission to become number one for control centers."

FRAFOS, founded in 2010, is a leading provider of IT security solutions for VoIP communications in Germany. The company offers several software products, including cloud-native solutions designed for virtualized environments and public sector-approved solutions for security-critical installations.

FRAFOS Session Border Control (SBC) isolates communications systems and networks from open, untrusted Internet access, blocks DoS attacks and fraud attempts, hides the internal network structure from outsiders, and blacklists suspicious sources. The SBC also provides a centralized logging and monitoring point and enforces configured policies for security, availability and routing, including the number of calls allowed, IP addresses to block and server routing.

"We are very pleased to become a join the Frequentis Group, with whom we have already built strong relationships over the past few years, and thus to be part of an innovative family-owned company. Together we can expand our presence in the public and private sectors and broaden our product portfolio to address the ATM (Air Traffic Management) market," said Dorgham Sisalem, co-founder of FRAFOS.

The FRAFOS Secunet SBC solution, developed in cooperation with Secunet, combines IP firewall and SBC and enables the necessary separation of data and voice networks in government environments. FRAFOS Secunet SBC is the only solution in Germany certified and approved by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

The acquisition of FRAFOS will enhance Frequentis' comprehensive product portfolio with its competence and expertise in cybersecurity. FRAFOS will continue to operate from its headquarters in Berlin and offices in Prague. The current FRAFOS team will continue to be responsible for supporting and expanding its customer base, with the same team and quality that has been successful to date.
